Recent history

Soon after Mrs Fawdry's death in 1995, the management of the museum was left in the hands of the trust which she established in 1968, and which paid rent to the family for the buildings. Knowing that the lease would probably not be renewed, the Trust tried to ensure the continuation of the museum on another site, and made a major application for funding to the Heritage Lottery Fund in 20o2. This was unfortunately unsuccessful, although the Fund was willing to consider supporting the purchase of the existing premises. Although this initially seemed to be a possibility, it emerged that the conditions of sale could not be agreed, and the Trust was left with the option of putting its collection temporarily into storage.

There were many generous donors to an appeal, as a result of which the Trust can arrange for appropriate packing and storage when arrangements have been made for access to the items.

Since 2004, the Pollock's Toy Museum Trust has worked with other organisations to present exhibitions on toy theatre.

These have included Sir John Soane's Museum and St Bride Library.
